What is Trunkrs delivery?

Trunkrs is a same-day and next-day delivery service founded in 2015. Its founders wanted to make package delivery in the Netherlands more customer-friendly.

They noticed that customers had very little control over the delivery process, even though this matters a lot in the online shopping journey.

And webshops are the ones who pay the price for that... They believed it could be different: faster, more flexible, and friendlier.

It quickly became clear they'd hit on a real pain point in the delivery world. So Trunkrs has kept on growing.

Today, Trunkrs specializes in food, fashion, and home decor, for both large and mid-sized webshops.

Trunkrs has also recently started delivering fresh produce, an ideal solution for brick-and-mortar food stores that saw their revenue drop during the coronavirus crisis.

Shipping and receiving with Trunkrs

As an online retailer, it pays to offer multiple shipping options. This boosts your chances of conversion and gives your customers a more complete service.

So Trunkrs offers both same-day and next-day delivery:

Same-day delivery with Trunkrs

Trunkrs' same-day delivery service gets webshop packages to your customer's door on the very same day.

Trunkrs picks up orders from you late in the morning, then delivers them to your customers that evening.

Next-day delivery with Trunkrs

Next-day shipments get picked up along with the same-day pick-up. Orders placed the evening before can be packed and handed over the next morning. They're then delivered that same evening.

Trunkrs delivers 5 days a week, from Monday to Friday, and operates throughout the Netherlands (except the Wadden Islands), Flanders, and the Flemish part of Brussels.

Trunkrs track and trace

If your customers order in the morning, the package is delivered that same evening. Trunkrs delivers in the evening hours, between 5 PM and 10 PM.

That's when most people are home. Meanwhile, customers stay updated on the exact delivery time through Trunkrs track and trace.

Here's how that works:

1. Your customer can change the address to a different one anywhere in the Netherlands, up until 2 PM on the day of delivery.

2. Around 3 PM, your customer gets assigned a 1-hour delivery window. Until 5 PM, they can still change the location within a certain region.

3. Once the driver sets off, your customer can follow them via track & trace. They can also ask for extra information through chat. How many stops does the driver have left? What time will the delivery actually arrive? Your customer gets an instant answer. Luckily, it's not the driver responding, but an AI system. Much safer that way!

4. Right up until delivery, your customer can still choose a different delivery location. At a neighbor's, for example, or a family member's further down the street. This location can be no more than 200 meters from the original delivery address.

Reliable: 99% delivered on the agreed day

A same-day delivery option sounds great, but if it doesn't work well, it only leads to unhappy customers.

Trunkrs delivers packages on time almost without exception. Even during the busiest times of the year, they deliver 99% of packages on the agreed evening.

Sustainable delivery

Trunkrs wants to be the first carrier in the Netherlands to deliver completely green. They're doing everything they can to make that happen.

This year, Trunkrs raised a whopping 15 million euros in growth funding.

The delivery service aims to be fully emission-free by the end of 2022.

No night shifts for your staff

Working at night is costly and bad for your employees' health. But the demand for same-day or next-day delivery still puts pressure on webshops.

After all, how do you process all those packages when orders come in late in the evening? Trunkrs wants to help online retailers avoid having to run a night shift at all.

They do this with a morning pick-up route, between 10 AM and 2 PM, giving you plenty of time to pack all your orders.

The packages are then delivered that same evening, so your customer still gets same-day delivery.

What are the requirements for my Trunkrs shipments?

In the Netherlands, you can ship with Trunkrs starting at 55 packages a week. In Flanders and the Flemish part of Brussels, you need a minimum of 50 packages a day. Shipments need to meet the following requirements:

• Maximum weight: 10 kg

• Maximum dimensions: 60 × 40 × 40 cm

Surcharges

If your package is bigger or heavier, you'll pay a surcharge for it:

• Weight over 10 kg (up to 25 kg max): €4.50

• Dimensions larger than 60 × 40 × 40 cm (up to 120 x 40 x 40 cm max): €4.50

Trunkrs shipping options

So Trunkrs offers two shipping options:

• Trunkrs same-day delivery: Is an order placed in the morning? Then it's delivered that same evening, between 5 PM and 10 PM.

• Trunkrs next-day delivery: Is an order placed between noon and 11:59 PM? Then the customer receives the package the following evening, between 5 PM and 10 PM.

How does Trunkrs' pick-up service work?

The cost of picking up shipments depends on your region. Pick-up prices range between €15 and €25 per pick-up.

Trunkrs' depot is located in Nieuwegein. The pick-up time depends on where your packages are, and will fall between 10 AM and 2 PM.

How does Trunkrs work with Sendcloud?
