How Smartphonehoesjes built a flexible, scalable shipping set-up with Sendcloud

CHALLENGE
International expansion led to complex logistics operations
Smartphonehoesjes was founded in 2011 as a small online store, offering affordable phone cases and accessories, mostly in the Netherlands. Over the years, the company grew significantly, expanding its catalogue, launching a custom printing service, and entering new markets like Belgium, Germany, Austria and France.
They quickly learned that managing cross-border logistics while keeping their delivery promises is no small feat. Especially when you're shipping thousands of parcels per day. The result? An increasingly complex, fragmented logistical operation. Something that's pretty hard to scale.
We sat down with Stefan Hooft, Project Manager at Smartphonehoesjes, and talked about how Sendcloud helps him simplify shipping, adapt faster, and ensure a high-performing checkout experience.

SOLUTION
Solving the courier integration bottleneck
Smartphonehoesjes realised their logistics setup needed to evolve. Each country came with its own preferred couriers and shipping methods, and integrating them one by one through their WMS provider quickly became a bottleneck for growth. The whole process was time-consuming, resource-heavy, and far from scalable.
Stefan explains: "Before Sendcloud, courier connections were managed by our WMS provider, but that wasn't their core business. Courier setups often took a lot of time and effort. Each country had its own preferred couriers, and connecting those manually was a lot of work. It just wasn't scalable."
With Sendcloud, this changed instantly. New courier connections can now be configured and tested within two to three hours, instead of taking up days of development work. As Stefan puts it: "The biggest difference is how quickly we can adapt. And flexibility is critical when you're shipping at a large scale."
The operations team now has the flexibility to quickly add new sales channels, offer localised delivery options, and respond instantly to disruptions like strikes or delays.

RESULTS
Improving conversion with dynamic delivery options
Besides a far more flexible courier selection and integration process, another important benefit of the collaboration with Sendcloud is the ability to offer a dynamic checkout. Smartphonehoesjes wanted to improve the choices and clarity of their checkout experience.
Thanks to the implementation of Sendcloud's dynamic checkout, they can offer multiple delivery methods and be very clear about the pros and cons of each different method. "We've run several tests using the dynamic checkout that led to higher conversion," says Stefan. "It gives us the ability to experiment quickly and see what works, or what doesn't."
Being able to make fast, data-driven adjustments has helped Smartphonehoesjes fine-tune their last-mile offering across markets, without overloading the operations team.
